SMASH! up

Across Europe, research and industries are working on smart shipping innovations to make freight transport on our waterways safer, more efficient, and more climate-friendly. Specific building blocks for tomorrow’s inland shipping operations are already being tested on the water today — from Rotterdam’s terminals to Germany’s inland ports and beyond. Turning opportunities and existing and future building blocks of automated vessel operations into a single cross-border reality requires alignment of visions, strategies and interest of stakeholders in the inland shipping ecosystem.

This event brings together two outlooks for smart shipping and building blocks of the SEAMLESS and MAGPIE projects. SMASH! and DST will present the newly developed Smart Shipping vision 2035 and the Future projections of automated inland shipping (RAIN) developed by the Dutch and German smart shipping communities. SEAMLESS and MAGPIE present their innovations and demonstrators in smart vessel, fleet and logistics operations.

During the session, we will use the Dutch, German and European threads to inspire and support the participants to identify concrete steps that can be taken today by companies and authorities and what is needed to make these steps successful.
